Join Canonical, the publisher of Ubuntu, as we attend the upcoming Open Source Summit Europe 2024 in Austria.

Hosted by the Linux Foundation, this summit is the premier event for developers, technologists, and community leaders with a keen interest in the innovation that open source enables. Mark your calendars for September 16-18, 2024, as we gather in Vienna for this exciting event.

Canonical provides open source security, support and services. Our portfolio covers critical systems, from the smallest devices to the largest clouds, from the kernel to containers, from databases to AI.

Since we started working on Ubuntu, 20 years ago, engaging with open source communities has been a cornerstone of our mission. We’re excited to connect with attendees at Open Source Summit Europe to share insights, foster collaboration and contribute to this vibrant ecosystem.

Visit the Canonical booth at OSS EU 2024

This year, Canonical will be at booth G/S13 in Hall E of the Austria Center Vienna. We’re excited to talk about Ubuntu as the favorite platform for individuals and enterprises.

Swing by our booth to chat about our support for the latest stable software, Ubuntu’s enterprise-grade reliability and performance that shines in production, and our best-in-class commercial support of up to 12 years — up and down the stack.

While Ubuntu is known as the target platform for open source software vendors and community projects, it’s also the starting point for much of our work in the infrastructure layer, from the bare metal up to virtualization.

To learn more, we’ll have Cristóvão Cordeiro at our booth with demos of Chiselled Ubuntu containers.

  • Venue: Austria Vienna Center, Hall E (Level 0)
  • Location: Booth G/S13

We’ll demonstrate how anyone can easily build a distroless-like container, from the bottom-up, while retaining the usual and familiar experience of a typical package manager.

The result is an Ubuntu-based Docker image with the same functionality as its bloated counterparts, but with a smaller attack surface (and off-the-shelf compliance with existing security standards).

We’ll show you how we can build declarative recipes for slicing Ubuntu packages and building container images, and we’ll use popular runtimes and software applications (like Python and Valkey) as a reference.

Want a dedicated session with our team?

In fields such as data science and machine learning, Ubuntu is the operating system of choice for many of the most popular frameworks.

This includes OpenCV, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch and Kubeflow, as well as our recently announced Canonical Data Science Stack, which allows you to set up ML environments right out of the box and is optimized from the OS right down to the hardware layer.

See us at the OpenSearch and Valkey community booths

We’re excited to also join the OpenSearch and Valkey communities at their booths during Open Source Summit EU this year.

OpenSearch simplifies ingesting, searching, visualizing, and analyzing data for use cases such as application search, log analytics, data observability, and more.

Valkey is an open source, high-performance key/value datastore that supports a variety of workloads such as caching, message queues, and can act as a primary database.

You’ll also find us at the Valkey Developer Day, co-located with OSS EU, where Cristóvão Cordeiro will have a session titled “Ubuntu-based Valkey for Linux and Kubernetes environments”.

We’re thrilled to promote open collaboration and innovation with OpenSearch and Valkey.
